Henrik Eriksson and Johanna Gustafsson Fürst
HENHEL-HIPPO

At the beginning Henrik Eriksson main aim was to build a sculpture by another artist, his friend, Johanna Gustafsson Fürst according to her instructions. However, after a while the interaction between the two artists took more important role and in the end their conversations and e-mails became an essential part of the collaboration. Henrik Eriksson hopes to find a way to present these alongside the sculpture.

The sculpture itself serves a more practical purpose as a bench that invites the viewer to sit down and at the same time it clarifies the gallery space resulting in an interaction between the three. As a result of the collaboration Eriksson is also exhibiting few of his photographic pieces from the series Norrlandskusten 21.12.2007. This is an on-going odyssey where a digital archive shot with a compact camera during one single day is slowly re-edited into a new journey.

The exhibition is a part of an ongoing Artist-in-Recidence Collaboration between CFF – Center for Photography, Stockholm (Sweden) and Photographic Gallery Hippolyte, Helsinki (Finland): www.hippolyte.fi/en/projekti/tiedote/2010/AiR_CFF_Hippolyte2010.html

Henrik Eriksson works in various media and often with new techniques for each project. He has a Masters degree from Royal University College of Fine Arts in Stockholm and he has been running the artist run gallery ak28 2003 – 2008 together with colleagues. He has had exhibitions in Sweden, Russia, Norway and Albania. Recently he had a solo show at Nordin Gallery, www.nordingallery.com. A selection of earlier works can be seen at www.henrikeriksson.com. The exhibition at Hippolyte Studio is collaboration with Swedish sculptor Johanna Gustafsson Fürst. Her work could be seen at www.gustafssonfurst.se
