NEVER, LAND

The works in the exhibition are the result of my interest in memories, remembering and how objects and materials are used to keep memories alive. The works are based on subtle perception and observation; a feel for how the fabric falls.

The works seek to create a conflict between material and form, and they also embody the idea of death as a passage into another dimension. The associations awakened by the materials point toward using memory to make things immortal.

Kati Ruohomäki (b. 1978) earned her MFA degree from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in 2006. Last year she participated in the Art Goes Kapakka festival in Helsinki, and also represented Galleria Huuto at the Alt_Cph10 alternative art fair in Copenhagen. In 2009 she exhibited a video work in the Studio at Muu Gallery. Ruohomäki has works in the collections of the Paulo Foundation and the Helsinki Art Museum.
