Jari Arffman has done much of his photography abroad and participated in exhibitions worldwide. His photographic career has had living places like Barcelona and Los Angeles, but locality and Tampere are now the most powerful forces on his photographic horizon. "Powerful locality is a prequisite for being strong on the global scale. In general, local sources of identity have become important to people in globalizing world. As an artist I must have contact surface with the surrounding reality. And on other point, our life here is as valuable to photograph as anywhere else in the world. The people of Tampere are beautiful!"
