Rita Jokiranta is a visual artist and photographer. She works mainly
with photo-based installations or series; often dealing with
questions of interpretation, perceiving and the images' influence on
each other. The large scale of the images and the installation form
create a rhythm rather like a film, but with a hidden narrative
carrying an uncertain feeling of unreality and transience, or a
journey in a dream world. The viewers are challenged to analyze their
own reflections on the images.
Since 1989 she has had several solo shows and taken part in group
exhibitions in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium,
Poland and Ireland. She also works with video and light installations.
